The super bowl is over, so it’s time to refocus on what’s important: Writers & Words. Our February reading is just around the corner!
Join us on Tuesday, February 10 at Charmington’s for a night of poetry, fiction and non-fiction readings, featuring the best and brightest of up-and-coming Baltimore writers:
Jacob Budenz known in some circles as Dream Baby or the Booze Witch of H House, is a wearer of many hats in the Baltimore performance art scene, though a pointed black hat is the hat he wears most (witch). He’s the baby of the Annex Theater’s resident actors, and has done and performance art for LabBodies, the Transmodern Festival, the Holy Underground, La Xata La Rifa in Spain, and lots of other places. His writing has been featured in The Writer’s Digest, JMWW, Potuck Magazine, and Sein und Werden, and soon the Baltimore Museum of Art.
Matthew Falk teaches writing at the University of Baltimore and the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex. He is a musician, cat person, and armchair phenomenologist. His favorite number is i. His words have appeared in dozens of previously reputable venues, including Everyday Genius; What Weekly; The Atticus Review; Smile, Hon, You’re in Baltimore!; The Barely South Review; and H_NGM_N. His exciting full-length debut collection of inspirational verse, Wash Your Bowl, is available from your finer independent bookmongers or via mephistofalafel.blogspot.com.
Dustin Fisher is an amateur stand-up comedian, award-winning storyteller, freelance writer and stay-at-home dad, all of which are just nicer ways of saying “unemployed.” You can follow along with him, his daughter Mabel, and his newborn son Morris as they learn how to raise each other at http://daddyneedsanap.com/.
His first memoir, Daddy Issues, is available in paperback, eBook, and Audiobook. Dustin has been published in the Huffington Post, The Good Men Project, Speakeasy DC blog, Baltimore Fishbowl, So Much Sports, Welter, Plorkology, and Baltimore STYLE Magazine. A list of his upcoming shows as well as a video archive can be found at http://dustinrecsports.com/.
Dustin lives in New Carrollton, MD with his wife Jennifer, daughter Mabel, son Morris, and one too many cats.
Jessica Welch enjoys challenging expectations, as a writer, a costume designer, and a dancer. Just when you think you’ve got her figured out, she shifts to the left. Or to the right. Depending on where you stand.
See you there! (Come early to get a seat)
